Experience behind Brendonhill
Manifesto
Build at cultural scale.
A city-wide multidisciplinary festival where the job was not to flatten complexity—it was to make many different experiences move as one cultural moment.

The context
What was being built.
Manifesto was a community-driven multidisciplinary arts platform with a long history in Toronto. The 2018 festival moved across more than twenty events and multiple communities, bringing together music, visual art, conversation, vendors, education and live performance.
Every year effectively reset the machine: new budgets, teams, talent, venues, sponsorship realities and production goals. Much of the workforce was volunteer-driven, and accessibility, safety and inclusion had to remain part of the operating plan.
The festival’s strength came from multiplicity. The management challenge was not to centralize every creative decision, but to create enough structure for independent event leads to succeed while the audience still experienced one coherent festival.
Where responsibility sat
What I moved.
- 01
Managed staff and event leads across the festival footprint.
- 02
Oversaw logistics, production planning, show flows, volunteers, merchandise and sponsor requirements.
- 03
Supported venue sourcing, talent travel, bookings and cross-event problem solving.
- 04
Helped shape the overall festival vision while allowing individual teams to retain their identities.
- 05
Kept accessibility, safety and community welcome embedded in delivery.

Beyond the deliverable
The festival created platforms for artists at different career stages, space for independent vendors and access points for communities often treated as secondary audiences. The operating lesson was lasting: scale works best when structure protects culture instead of replacing it.
Create the structure. Protect the culture.
Accuracy makes the work stronger
